Switches

Redragon k552 can be hot-swappable with Outemu switch. 3-pin switch. You can switch to any other switch, such as blue, brown, red, etc.

The Redragon K552 is only available with one keyboard switch option, default with cherry mx blue clone switches, Oetemu variant. Switches are very reliable. Haptic feedback is very accurate.

All blue switches generally have the same performance specifications, the blue switches have a 4.2mm bottoming travel and a 1.8mm actuation point, and force is about 60 grams.

The Cherry MX Blues have 4.2mm of total travel, 2.1mm of actuation and 55 grams of actuation force.

The Oetemu Blues have 4.2mm of total travel, 2.5mm of actuation and 46g of actuation force.

These switches are very similar to Cherry MX in terms of switching rattle, sound and overall typing experience, with an audible click. This is not a good option if you plan to use it in a quiet place or if you don’t want to disturb others while using the keyboard.

Build Quality

The quality of the Redragon k552 in this price range is excellent. Although the material of the key caps is ABS plastic, the overall texture is very strong, since the keyboard base is made of metal alloy, and it is no problem for daily game use. Overall, there are no obvious flaws in the design and quality of the keyboard, and the Redragon k552 is more than enough to outperform most keyboards in this price range.

Keypads

The keycaps are double shot and very crisp to press. The keycaps are the only common complaint from buyers of this keyboard. The keycaps are made of ABS plastic, which looks more matte and not shiny. The plastic for the keycaps is the thinnest I’ve ever seen, and the keycaps have several flaws that bend easily to some stress.

The thin keycaps are definitely the reason for some of the harsher noise this keyboard makes. However, over time, ABS plastic is expected to become shinier. While keycaps are a complaint of most buyers, ABS plastic keycaps are acceptable at this price point.

Despite the size of TenKeyLess, it’s sturdy and affordable, with little to no key wobble. The keyboard has no wrist rest. The keyboard has full RGB individually backlit keys, but since there is no accompanying software, all customization must be done via hotkeys.

The Outemu blue switch we tested has haptic feedback, however, typing is loud, so it may not be the best choice for noise-sensitive environments like offices.
